Flying Coffins-A Tribute To The Martyrs.

Hello Readers

Hope you all are fine.

The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.

Careers, why are they important? The obvious answer would support oneself and a person’s family, but there is also another purpose of a job, and that is not entirely self-centered instead it is for the betterment and protection of the society, these are called service-oriented professions.

Some examples of the same is like a career in medical science ,firefighters, the police force ,at the top of the service pyramid I have kept the armed forces as I feel that is the highest  level of selflessness a person can opt for with his country on the one hand and his life on the other.

On the first of February a tragic incident happened at the HAL airport in Bengaluru, Karnataka, this is what happened.

A fire, a plume of black smoke, and a helicopter hovering overhead. This was the scene after an Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 fighter jet crashed near the HAL airport in Bengaluru on Friday morning.

According to HAL sources, there were two pilots inside the plane, and both of them ejected before the crash. The two pilots have been identified as Squadron Leader Siddharth Negi and Squadron Leader Sameer Abrol, who were both parts of Aircraft and System Testing Establishment in Bengaluru. Both pilots were taken to Command Hospital, according to HAL sources. However, both were killed in the incident, the HAL PRO confirmed.

The plane crashed in the Yemalur area of Bengaluru around 10.30 am. According to the HAL police, the aircraft was on a test sortie when it crashed on Friday. Three helicopters and two fire engines came to the rescue within minutes of the crash.

HAL tweeted, "A Mirage-2000 aircraft crashed at HAL airport during a sortie today at around 10:30 am. Both pilots ejected. Further details are awaited."

"The pilots were out for a general training session. Mirage 2000 is a training aircraft. The aircraft did not take off properly and crashed into the blockade near the runway. Both pilots ejected but their parachutes, too, caught fire. One pilot died. One is critical and undergoing treatment at command hospital," HAL sources told TNM. The cause for the malfunction is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway, they added.

The pilots who aboard the fateful flight were identified as, Sameer Abrol and Squadron Leader Siddharth Negi, a statement by the HAL said.

Here is some information I could gather about the pilots.

Squadron leader Samir Abrol was an active member of the frequent-flyer community as well, although he had his style of getting on a plane. We had the honour of meeting him and sharing a drink with him at the Points and Points meet up in Bangalore.

Squadron leader Samir Abrol was from the Aircraft & Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) of the Air Force.

Samir was a long time active member of the LFAL community. He also happened to be the first defence personnel we had met who were entrenched into collecting points and miles, something I always thought people in flying careers never needed to do. Fondly known as Sam, he would frequently comment and share his wisdom with the rest of us as well.

Squadron leader Siddharth Negi joined Indian Air Force (IAF) as a Flying Officer in 2009 and rose to the rank of Squadron Leader in a very fast time in the service that he was one of the Youngest Test Pilot at the IAF’s premier Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) only the fifth such institution in the world which evaluates aircraft and systems for induction into user organizations and only selects pilots with the best of the best flying skills who are up for flying such high-risk certification missions.

It is now confirmed that heartbreaking coincidence was that Squadron Leader Siddharth Negi lost his life on his Birthday and he had just turned 31 years old but had achieved so much in the force that many of seniors believed he was destined for much higher roles in the organizations in near future and will be missed by all in fraternity. I don't want to take sides here on one of the most tragic and unfortunate incidents in the history of the Indian air force, my only request would be to pay homage to the departed souls and atleast remember the brave sacrifices of such brave men and women who lose their lives for the sake of our nation.

I would also wait for the investigation reports to come out and that would be the sequel for this write-up.

I will always be grateful and bow to all the personal of all law and order organisations and the armed forces that protect us and feel happy by seeing the people of their country happy.

Think about it, is this not one of the highest levels of spiritual thinking a person possess.

Thanks a lot for your time
