My Experiments With Fiction - 2.The story of Sarve Laghu and Vishala.

Hello Readers

Hope you all are doing fine today.

I took the time to compose this one because I had put more thinking in framing ad creating my second fictional story. Thanks a lot for all your feedback on the first one, please read it if you have still haven't read it at: http://harishmurthy.blogspot.com/2018/06/my-experiments-with-fiction-1tug-war.html

Now for the story, this one is about a dwarf who wins a challenge with a giant!

Laghu was an elf who lived in a small village called Sarve Laghu Gramaha ( the land of dwarfs)  in ancient India. Even though this was the land of gnomes, there was a land of Giants called Vishala adjacent to Sarve Laghu.

The people of Sarve Laghu were always being mocked by the giants of Vishala for their weak and short stature.

Laghu the Dwarf was unhappy of this mockery and sought revenge on the giants.

But the whole community of the dwarfs were against it because if even one giant would be taunted, he could eat the entire village of the dwarfs in a mouth full.

Mitra was a friend of Laghu who was a giant, so Laghu asked him “what is wrong in being short? Why do people laugh only at us, why not they laugh at you people who are tall and demonic in nature.”

Mitra replied, “my dear Laghu this world always believes in strength, and this strength will protect us from any type of danger that is upcoming, even though Laghu sadly agreed with the giant, but he challenged Mitra that one day there may be a situation where your size and height may prove otherwise for you, and you might regret it”, Mitra laughed it off and accepted the challenge joyfully.

Years passed, Sarve Laghu and Vishala were peaceful and prosperous when the spirits (Gods) decided to play tricks with both of these villages.

Suddenly one morning to the astonishment of both the villages there large pots of Magma lined up on the borders of the towns and mystique voice spoke from the sky.

“Dear Dwarfs and Giants of Sarve Laghu and Vishala you will be tested at the end of this fortnight, and the more brainer amongst you will survive the flood of the fuming lava in these pots, find a way to safeguard yourselves, because at the end of 15th day the pots will be emptied and the lava would flow on your lands like the gushing ocean.”

Hearing this the people of Sarve Laghu were petrified and arranged a meeting to discuss whether to flee from the village or stay back and try to safeguard themselves.

All the younger gnomes sought the advice of the wise men that was very much respected by all.

They gave the following advise “ The spirits are angry with us and hence they have given this challenge, and also they want to see if we have the intellect to protect our motherland, so be it let us work hard to protect our motherland or perish in the effort.”

So they came up with a plan, they decided to start digging deep pits just inside the border of their village before their residing premise so that once the magma has poured in, it would fill the vast quarries and protect the town.

Seeing their plans the Giants of Vishala again laughed at the poor dwarfs and were very proud that no force can destroy them as they were too powerful and even their homes were built of diamonds which is the most active element.

But Mitra the friend of Laghu was not too sure and condemned the arrogance of the giants and joined the people of Sarve Laghu and decided to help them.

Without worrying about the Giants, the people of Sarve Laghu continued their hard work.

Finally when the fortnight (Paksha) ended. Suddenly the village of Sarve Laghu heard loud screams from a distance near the border they all ran as fast as their legs could carry them, and saw almost all the giants running and confused because of the approaching Magma eating away their homes their cultivation, the Giants finally realized their mistakes and begged the spirits to spare their lives.

The Spirits reappeared and a voice from the firmament stated “The Giants who always made fun of the gnomes, were still proud of their high strength thought they were invincible, on the other hand, all the dwarfs of Sarve Laghu Gramaha united and respected the words of their wise men and prepared to protect their land.

Learn to lead a humble life and remember your intellectual strength is more potent than physical strength, our test has been successfully completed by the Laghu Janaha (people of Sarve Laghu), hence we grant them these pots full of gold, let Sarve Laghu Gramaha Prosper, Mitra and Laghu are matured individuals from both these villages, we bless them with happiness", and so the voice slandered away.

Mitra finally had lost the challenge and congratulated Laghu.

There ends the story.

Dear readers, what we can learn from the other story is that even the greatest of powers can be dethroned in a whisker of a second if someone decides to. Which has been right in the real world as well?

So never be proud of your present state and feel arrogant about it, you might regret it.

There is another valuable lesson is, we need to face life practically and work on the issues which try to pull us down and stand tall on them, there is no use of showing emotions when you encounter a problem.

Truth is the foundation of real spirituality and courage is its soul.
Sri Aurobindo Gosh – Light endless light.

Thanks a lot for your valuable time, India gave the world one of most ancient language that is Sanskrit hence, I decided to use some Sanskrit words in the story, please leave your comments and help me improve.

My Experiments With Fiction - 1.Tug-a-war

Hello readers

How are you today, well I am dandy, good weather here in Bangalore to be frank very pleasant, Nature is still kind to all Bangaloreans, considering the damage we are doing to flora and fauna, with all the rapid urbanisation and infinite real estate projects!

What is a force, we all know what it is, according to Sir Isaac Newton it is mass multiplied with acceleration? Famously known as F=MA.

There are many forces present in this world, well naming them or explaining them isn't the point of discussion.

I wanted just to raise some questions today and would like to wear your thinking caps and analyse my thoughts.

Let us consider this fictional example, there is this famous fun game going on this stadium called earth located in the milky way galaxy, and the name of this game is called Tug-a-war well, for the people who don’t know about it, it is nothing but a thick and long rope which is given to the participants who are divided into teams asked to stand facing each and the tug-a-war the team which will be able to overpower the latter is the winner.

So in this game of Tug-a-war, on one side we have nature with all the five forces and all the additional physical forces available on this universe, on the other hand, we have all the materials created by us the humans and all the world population of humans considering that no one envies anyone.

So what do you think, whom do you think will win this game? Well, let me give you some highlights about what happened, in the first half it seemed to be the team humans who were pulling it their way with their tricks, like using all their modern gadgets to gain more and more strength.

But the second half just turned the tables with the team nature just draining all the opponents' team strength by using a simple strategy.

Do you know what their strategy was?

Mr Wind, who is part of the 5 forces just realised if there is no air, how can these humans breath, so he stopped creating atmosphere! Mr fire decided just to burn all the bulldozers and the cranes used by the humans.

So team nature is a winner!

Dear friends this story which I created, is one of my experiments on writing fiction stories which I have started as working on recently, but by knowing you would have got the message which I tried to crimp in the above story.

We are playing an oblivious game to be precise, and thinking we will survive the mishaps and disasters we are creating each day and trying to crumble nature and natural resources and the environment we are living.

Beware the tug-a-war game was won even before it began! Yes, we all are living today because of nature’s mercy on us, imagine if the molecular structure of water changes! We are history.

Our tasks are given, we are but instruments; nothing is all our own that we create.
Sri Aurobindo Gosh – Light endless light.

Please try with maximum effort to save whatever is left, let us be grateful to this whole system for sustaining us.

Thanks for your time.

Comics - A lighter way of life.

 Hello Readers

Well actually you know, I was out of topics today when I was just conjecturing what to publish today When all of a sudden I thought it would be about this theme.

Well, comics have always been astounding and dear to me.

Well, it all started when I was introduced to a comic book called, “Tinkle” a fortnightly children’s comic book, I think it was back in the year 2000 I started reading it.

Since then I am an aficionado of many comic books and till date read them.

Coming to the point of discussion now, why do you think comics are different from other storybooks and novels?

You think the colourful illustration and the balloons of conversation are the unique selling point.

Well if you think so, actually I agree with you. The illustrations and the dialogue depiction in comics are what makes it unique when I read a comic, it makes me feel I am living in that moment and we become the character, sometimes make you very yearning as well.

Let it be a real-time story or a small comedy strip of comic or an adventure when it is illustrated in a comic format, it looks very different and appealing to read the whole book at once.

Some famous names who made our lives  a little light whenever we read their comic strips on the newspaper or in a book: first on the list is Sri R K Lakshman a famous cartoonist and humorist who with his cartoon strips named “you said it” and his work “common man” took satire to the next level, and has won the hearts of people of India with his humor.

Next on the list are 2 people whom I can never forget, Sri Ananth Pai and Sri Ram Waeerkar, Sri Ananth Pai was popularly known as uncle Pai he is the architect behind, Amar Chitra Katha founded under his own Rang Rekha features in the year 1980, Tinkle too came under the same syndicate. I think anyone in this world who likes comics should definitely read the tinkle magazines and other prominent comes of Sri Pai like, Kapish, Ramu and Shamu, little Raji and many more. Thank you for your marvellous comics!

Sri Ram Waeerkar was a great artist and was one of the leading illustrators in all Amar Chaitra Katha books, he was also the creator  of many famous characters like Pyarelal a story of a simple villager and his misadventures,  Suppandi- a village simpleton his stupidity or his virtue of being an ignoramus has cost him many a job. Often Suppandi is shown living in big towns and cities.

I am sure many of you have heard of the diamond comic, this is the official publisher of another legend:  Sri Pran Kumar Sharma, who created Chacha Chaudhry, billoo, Soni and  Sampath and was also the first to introduce James bond in Hindi.

Lastly, I want to introduce you to  another respectable and most creative person, well that is Mr Georges Prosper Remi, ok  we all know him with his pen name as Hergé, he created this ultimate 24 volume comic magazine series called the “ The Adventures of Tintin” which is still my favourite,

Stéphane Bernasconi brought these remarkable comics to life through an animated cartoon TV series in the year 1991 and completed it 1992 it was later broadcasted on cartoon network in the early 2000s, it  is one of the best cartoons I have seen, like Hanna-Barbera's Tom and Jerry and Walt Disney’s Mickey the mouse and goofy.

All pictures courtesyGoogle.com

I felt thrilled and excited to discuss this topic today, let me know your experiences with comics in the comment box.

Some truths which I could learn  from these great men is, that we all need to be creative in life, try to bring your ideas on paper, write articles or try drawing try painting your ideas, develop a hobby, be expressive, above all be joyful like these great men, who lead a life on their drawing board in an effort to bring smiles to people.

Nothing is ours, but time.

Thanks a lot for your time, have a great week ahead.

The Iron Curtain (irumbu thirai) - Movie Review

Hello readers

Hope you are okay today.

Truth is the source of real spirituality and courage is its soul.
Source- Light endless light by Sri Aurobindo Gosh

Some movies which are being produced in the recent times are based on real-life incidents which I much appreciate, as I like creating awareness to people and I think the film industry is one of the best options available to spread awareness.

So moving on, this movie Irumbu Thirai in Tamil and Abhimanyudu in Telugu starring Vishal, Arjun Sarja and Samantha begins with a suspicious theme of a politician asking a software engineer to manipulate his funds and ask him to convert black money (a popular Jorgen used in India to addressed wealth which is not declared by an  individual to the tax authorities) into legal funds and transfers a significant amount of money to his bank account.

Then in the following scene, the software engineer’s bank account has been hacked, and all the money has been flushed out, soon after the politician finds out about this mishap, the software engineer is beaten black and blue and asked to cough up the money by the end of the evening. The disappointed software engineer returns to his apartment and receives a call from his loan agent; he disconnects the call and finally commits suicide due to the enormous debt which he could not handle.

In the next scene the hero is shown in a Spanish bar trying to entice a girl who is from Spain into marrying him and settling in Spain, it turns out the Girl likes Indian culture so the plan backfires and he also gets bashed up by a group of youths who are portrayed as patriots.

Day 2, the same group of youths are surprised when they come to know the person whom they had a brawl yesterday is Major Kadiravan, and he will be their training officer, for the whole of their training period.

After this hero is portrayed as a person who cannot tolerate injustice and is shown to have temper issues, this temper will cause him some problems in his career when he is sent to anger management classes for six weeks, where he meets a charming lady who is a psychologist named Rathi Devi. They quickly become friends, and the doctor suggests him to go meet his family, which he had neglected for many years.

When he reached his village he sees his dad and sister and feels happy, and finds out his sister is in love with a wealthy guy and wants to get married to him.

Determined to get his sister married he returns to the city and applies for a loan of ten lac Indian rupees in his military academy which the military loan officer rejects due to the major’s bad behaviour with his peers, after several failed attempts, he tries to get the loan from private banks which looks even more challenging to obtain.

Finally, when he feels lost, an unknown character introducing himself as a loan agent sparks an idea in his brain; the idea is to provide fake documents that the military officer (Kadiravan) will open a computer business in his Dad’s name and the loan will be provided based on that surety.

Sure enough, the loan is sanctioned, and ten lac rupees were credited to his Father’s account who is the account holder.

Then suddenly one day, tragedy struck, Kadir’s Father Visits the teller machine to withdraw some funds, when suddenly he realises his account balance is nil.

Source: Computerworld.com

Soon enough he realises his bank account has been hacked and all the money was stolen.

The story progresses when the Hero tries to crack this case of cybercrime and he follows the criminals who are part of this gang, and finds out the kingpin behind this whole hacking racket is a man, better known with his user id as “WHITE DEVIL”, who is portrayed as the underworld king of computer hacking.

With a brilliantly scripted plot till the end, finally, the hero corners Satya Murthy alias White devil and confronts him and recovers not only his money but also returns the wealth of all those common man’s bank accounts which was hacked.

The film portrays various types of criminal activities which are now being carried out in the internet and using our smartphones, our touchscreen phones even though very powerful sophisticated and advanced, is an open the door to the most sensitive data of the user that is you, imagine you show your face to the phone, you store your fingerprints on the phone! How are so sure all of it is secured?

The movie also highlights illegal communities like tor and darknet, face camera eavesdropping, phone mic hacking, public CCTV hacking and finally signature on bank cheque which are stolen digitally scanned and pasted on your own cheque leaf.

So my message is simple do not use smartphones like toys, do not share your bank details to any tom dick and harry who proposes a fistful of cash back offer or a lottery. I  also want to humbly request to our respected Government to beef up the security measures for our Aadhar cards as it is a pinnacle of information of an individual, Minimize your selfie craze and your social media activity, there are many white devils around who are just waiting to hunt you down on the web!

Thanks for your valuable time.

Football- A spring of thoughts

Hello readers

Hope you all are enjoying life.

You know the only sport which I used to follow was cricket until the IPL invaded this beautiful game and made into a horse trading rat race.

Recently I watched a game a football just passing by, but one Goal by Gareth Bale (a winger for Spanish club Real Madrid) just left me stunned, and I decided to follow this game, which I should have done long back.

Currently, through the round of sixteen of FIFA world cup 2018 in Russia, I have seen nail-biting competition, the best of emotions from the fans and also great patriotism from the players representing their countries.

When I watch each match every day since the beginning of the season, I started getting inspired by the devotion of the players and the strategies they use to outwit their opponents, either become successful or succumb to their plan. I have also observed the sportsmanship all the players show irrespective of the sides they are in is admirable.

What are lessons that we can learn from this famous game which is also called the world’s most played game?

We can learn the essence of real team spirit, the strength of working together and discharging specific duties in the most candid means possible.

If you imagine the spheroid as the means to achieve your goal, it passes through a lot of people some of them who are friends who will give the ball back to help you reach your goal, and others take it far away from you to achieve their goals.

So you can consider all the opponents as people in your lives who try to pull you down in all ways possible and try to withstand you in reaching your goal.

On the other side, you have your own teammates who help you passing your problems to them and then moving along with you always and helping you reach your desires and interests in life, and these people are your family, friends and well-wishers.

Defenders midfielders, forwards, wingers and finally the strikers, these picketers are vital people in your life who push you towards your objective.

And then….

GOAL! Well, you would have scored your first goal when you have eventually have gone through all of the people we have discussed.

Now think! When we think about games like football or any other team sport we feel very motivated if you try to analyse the reason for this, the joy of being liked and liking is a joy of a different kind.

Let your antagonist try to bring you down, but if you have a great team with you who are there for you at all phases, you will be the luckiest person on this earth.

Start building teams for better causes that would lead to achieving your team goals as well as your personal goals and also making this society a better place to live.

“Take someone who doesn't keep score,
who's not looking to be richer, or afraid of losing,
who has not the slightest interest even
in his own personality: he's free.”
-Rumi

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day.
