My Experiments With Fiction - 2.The story of Sarve Laghu and Vishala.

Hello Readers

Hope you all are doing fine today.

I took the time to compose this one because I had put more thinking in framing ad creating my second fictional story. Thanks a lot for all your feedback on the first one, please read it if you have still haven't read it at: http://harishmurthy.blogspot.com/2018/06/my-experiments-with-fiction-1tug-war.html

Now for the story, this one is about a dwarf who wins a challenge with a giant!

Laghu was an elf who lived in a small village called Sarve Laghu Gramaha ( the land of dwarfs)  in ancient India. Even though this was the land of gnomes, there was a land of Giants called Vishala adjacent to Sarve Laghu.

The people of Sarve Laghu were always being mocked by the giants of Vishala for their weak and short stature.

Laghu the Dwarf was unhappy of this mockery and sought revenge on the giants.

But the whole community of the dwarfs were against it because if even one giant would be taunted, he could eat the entire village of the dwarfs in a mouth full.

Mitra was a friend of Laghu who was a giant, so Laghu asked him “what is wrong in being short? Why do people laugh only at us, why not they laugh at you people who are tall and demonic in nature.”

Mitra replied, “my dear Laghu this world always believes in strength, and this strength will protect us from any type of danger that is upcoming, even though Laghu sadly agreed with the giant, but he challenged Mitra that one day there may be a situation where your size and height may prove otherwise for you, and you might regret it”, Mitra laughed it off and accepted the challenge joyfully.

Years passed, Sarve Laghu and Vishala were peaceful and prosperous when the spirits (Gods) decided to play tricks with both of these villages.

Suddenly one morning to the astonishment of both the villages there large pots of Magma lined up on the borders of the towns and mystique voice spoke from the sky.

“Dear Dwarfs and Giants of Sarve Laghu and Vishala you will be tested at the end of this fortnight, and the more brainer amongst you will survive the flood of the fuming lava in these pots, find a way to safeguard yourselves, because at the end of 15th day the pots will be emptied and the lava would flow on your lands like the gushing ocean.”

Hearing this the people of Sarve Laghu were petrified and arranged a meeting to discuss whether to flee from the village or stay back and try to safeguard themselves.

All the younger gnomes sought the advice of the wise men that was very much respected by all.

They gave the following advise “ The spirits are angry with us and hence they have given this challenge, and also they want to see if we have the intellect to protect our motherland, so be it let us work hard to protect our motherland or perish in the effort.”

So they came up with a plan, they decided to start digging deep pits just inside the border of their village before their residing premise so that once the magma has poured in, it would fill the vast quarries and protect the town.

Seeing their plans the Giants of Vishala again laughed at the poor dwarfs and were very proud that no force can destroy them as they were too powerful and even their homes were built of diamonds which is the most active element.

But Mitra the friend of Laghu was not too sure and condemned the arrogance of the giants and joined the people of Sarve Laghu and decided to help them.

Without worrying about the Giants, the people of Sarve Laghu continued their hard work.

Finally when the fortnight (Paksha) ended. Suddenly the village of Sarve Laghu heard loud screams from a distance near the border they all ran as fast as their legs could carry them, and saw almost all the giants running and confused because of the approaching Magma eating away their homes their cultivation, the Giants finally realized their mistakes and begged the spirits to spare their lives.

The Spirits reappeared and a voice from the firmament stated “The Giants who always made fun of the gnomes, were still proud of their high strength thought they were invincible, on the other hand, all the dwarfs of Sarve Laghu Gramaha united and respected the words of their wise men and prepared to protect their land.

Learn to lead a humble life and remember your intellectual strength is more potent than physical strength, our test has been successfully completed by the Laghu Janaha (people of Sarve Laghu), hence we grant them these pots full of gold, let Sarve Laghu Gramaha Prosper, Mitra and Laghu are matured individuals from both these villages, we bless them with happiness", and so the voice slandered away.

Mitra finally had lost the challenge and congratulated Laghu.

There ends the story.

Dear readers, what we can learn from the other story is that even the greatest of powers can be dethroned in a whisker of a second if someone decides to. Which has been right in the real world as well?

So never be proud of your present state and feel arrogant about it, you might regret it.

There is another valuable lesson is, we need to face life practically and work on the issues which try to pull us down and stand tall on them, there is no use of showing emotions when you encounter a problem.

Truth is the foundation of real spirituality and courage is its soul.
Sri Aurobindo Gosh – Light endless light.

Thanks a lot for your valuable time, India gave the world one of most ancient language that is Sanskrit hence, I decided to use some Sanskrit words in the story, please leave your comments and help me improve.

Family- A small country.

Hello readers

Hope you are doing well.

No matter how hard the past, you can begin again.
-Buddha.

Hmmm… It was half past 7 in the Appa’s home in a remote village in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. The weather was fresh and misty outside as it is always in this village and young Kamala was rushing to her school, Amma was running behind her to remind her about her food packet as she had forgotten the packet 3 times in a row that week.

This was a joint family who were living in their ancestral house and mainly farming was their profession. The family had children of all ages starting from toddlers to children who were ready to take up their degree examinations.

Mudkappa was the oldest man in  the family who usually took the essential decisions of agricultural and also decisions during tough situations, Hiriyappa  his eldest  son loyally listened to his father’s advice and hence they lived with least hurdles and scuffles each day.

Days passed by, and the family is now maturing in terms of age and intellect of its members.

Once there came a situation, which had never been faced by the family, It so happened that , they were running out of resources to take care of their farming activities, essentials like seeds, fertilizers had become costly in the market was almost unaffordable to buy.

When all the people of the family asked the suggestions of Mudkappa to help get out of this situation, he just gave them one suggestion which was “The solution for the problem is you” the young men of the family were not happy with their Granddad’s suggestion, because they felt it was too generic and absurd, which would to help them to solve their issue.

Kamala who was young lady was studying at simple college in their village for a degree in botany and agricultural sciences, so she felt that the answer given by her grandfather was actually relevant to solve the problem, so she suggested all the people in the family what is, that thing which they do uses the resources which was used for farming.

So they listed all the commodities, like the seeds, and the fertilizers required so they all came to consciences and brought all the necessities well within their budget, and carried on with the usual process of sowing.

When the time of the harvest was just ahead, the neighbouring farmers were amazed to find out that this family had the biggest harvest for that year.

When one of the friends Hiriyappa, he just replied venerated, that he listened to the head of the family who had experience in life. There ends the story.

We can see in the above passage, the basic elements of management like, leadership, co-ordination, corporation, the knowledge and know –how, and the management of a situation.

If we take this family as a country we can see that they were always united, and worked for each other to build a best team which do not have weak atoms.

Let’s try to build that unity in our nation like the Family of Mudkappa, and show the world, united we stand.

Thanks for your time have a nice day.

The Love Story.

Hello readers

Hope you guys are doing great.

“A clear rejection is always better than a fake promise”

These days people are using this one word for all possible, reasons  it is been a constant tradition of making movies on it, marketing this word countless number of apps and website about this word.

Well the word is "love" well we all know about this word and we also have experienced it.

The first person you would have experienced love is from your mom and dad.
Well what is love? Is it that feeling that makes you hug someone or is that moment where you smile to yourself silly when you remember that person?

Well I must say even though these words are close to love, but they are not.
This process of love at first site then, meeting up with your soul mate getting married is all bookish and is most suitable to be a very good movie.

But let me narrate a short story which will help us understand that real meaning of love.

This story was written by me few years ago here we go:

Long ago during there was a great war going on in Europe , deep in the woods when all the soldiers were trying to protect their camps, they heard the sound of mounted troops advancing towards them, even though the watch towers tried to restrict them , the cavalry  was  too strong and destroyed the towers and advanced further.

All the soldiers used all the ammo they had and tamed down this outrage except for the last troop, as they were out of ammo they ran for their lives.

Among the soldiers who ran was Lt. John , who was known for his quality of sacrifice in his battalion so he managed to hide his troop including the sergeant beside a deep trunk of a tree and gave the enemies a chase of their life, until he was cornered by them in an old barn, when he looked at the snowy sky and thought that was his end, indeed his prayers were answered when the enemies heard a stiff rustle in the bushes which distracted them and the John got hold of his rifle and fired rounds of bullets that rattled the enemies fled in retreat.

The curious lieutenant wanted to know who caused such a noise which helped him to save himself from the enemy.

When he was about to investigate, there came out a beautiful lady who looked quite frightened and confused and was still trying to understand what just happened.

Seeing her John  smiled at her and said “thank you miss” for saving my life, hearing this the lady was revealed and replied, “ glad to be of service sir and I must thank you for trying to protect our state  at the cost of your own life.!”

Well  they say their souls were in-sync from the moment they had met, well the lady introduced herself as Clara a shepherded women who depended on the wool of her sheep and its meat for her living.

So the situation of war was unstable , the unpredicted attacks by the enemies made John worried about the survival of his army.

But as the saying goes, “ all is fair in love and war” the war went on and John met Clara occasionally during his usual rounds in the forest.

One morning, John and his battalion were woken up by a dreadful attack by the
enemies, unfortunately  most of the soldiers martyred in the attempt John and his two segments got on  their horses and galloped only to be pursued by the enemy.

They landed up in the same barn again, and hid themselves, but were spotted by the enemies, John hid in the bushes, the same bushes where he had met Clara for the first time, eventually he was caught by the enemies and was dragged out, they were asked to choose between death or to be jailed for life all the three brave men , promptly selected death, the first two were executed brutally.

Then came the turn of the Lt. John, who just prayed for one last time and was blind folded by the firing squad, ready to be massacred.

He was shot four bullets, and then the miracle happened! Well he never felt the pain of the bullets, suddenly his blindfold was removed and he was shocked to see that Clara came in- between and saved his life, oh what a tragedy exclaimed John and, shot himself.

Well there ends the story. Well coming back to this word ‘love’ now, do we now understand it at-least? I have only thing to say love is  where your will to sacrifice even your life for the person whom you love or the country you love.

Let us all understand the true meaning of love, buying gifts needlessly and showing off the materialistic person in you will not hold good for long, start accepting people how they are, and start being compassionate to your surroundings, why I use the word surrounding is to highlight that we must all love, nature and its creations among which we are a part of.

Hope you liked my story.

Changing your perception is the key to success, look for positives ignore the negative.
Thank you.

The glass mountain.

Hello readers

Hope you enjoyed the week.

Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.
-Rudyard Kipling.

We all like nature ,some of us just like to spend time at a beach which is a timeless experience ,some of us just like to go on a road trip to a hill station .I am sure we would have visited some mountain range at least once ,the experience is quite different and memorable .

The glass mountain is actually a fairy tale that I had read many years ago in the popular fortnightly comic book in India called “Tinkle” this is one of the best books we the 90s kids and also the later generations love to read, published by the popular and creative Amar Chitra Katha Pvt LTD which was created by the best writer Mr.Ananth Pai and who was popularly known as Uncle Pai.

I would like to narrate the story again, here it goes.

There was once this princess who was trapped on a glass mountain and was kept in captivity by an evil witch, the reason behind this dreadful act was the beauty of the princess and according to the  story, the witch would die if this princess got married.

So days passed by, the princess had a talking parrot which used to Vander over the vast lands and shout “help the princess”! all day long ,hearing this cry  many brave men and princes of many countries tried to climb the glass mountain and save the princes ,but perished or were injured in this attempt ,as the mountain was too slippery and sometimes an evil bird ,which was a huge vulture , was sent by the witch used to eat them.

Finally a day came, when the parrot wandered in the royal gardens of the bravest prince of that land and pleaded  the same ,upon hearing this, the great prince decided to help the princess.

As he entered the forest which was the only way to reach the glass mountain, he met a group of dwarfs, an old man and 3 ghosts who were trapped in an old steamer trunk.

The dwarfs had a problem, they were too short and were struggling to get water from a river which was known for violent currents, the prince directed them to construct a channel just before  their homes and helped them dig a huge pond, with the help of his soldiers he accomplished this task and, the dwarfs were very happy and gifted the prince a suit that would never get dirty and it can protect him from the worst winter.

The prince moved on and  he came across an old cabin where he could hear  3 voices who were crying as he went closer ,he understood that these voices came from 3 ghosts ,who pleaded him to realise them from a steamer trunk in which they were trapped inside by an evil witch for trying to attack her ,the prince helped them ,in return for his help the ghosts gave him a magic carpet that could take to the foot of the glass mountain.

The happy prince alighted this carpet and directed it to go to the glass mountain ,on his way he saw an old man struggling to walk ,he stopped at him and asked what was his misery the old man had a nail stuck in his leg ,which he was not able to remove ,the prince removed the nail, now the happy old man gifted the prince with a pair of shoes that had an iron sole ,which would never wear out.

With all his precious gifts ,the prince left for the glass mountain to rescue the princess ,which was a very windy and cloudy place ,so the prince wore that suit , which protected him from this harsh weather, then he wore the iron shoes and started to climb the glass mountain ,as expected the evil vulture tried to kill him and throw him into the deep valley ,but the prince carried on by clinging on to the legs of the vulture and finally killed it as he reached the surface of the mountain.

He released the prince and killed the witch, and returned to his kingdom with the princess and his soldiers with help of his magic carpet and  married the princess and they all lived happy ever after.

Well it is a very good story and one of the best ,published in the magazine and majority of the times, these stories were written by young talents, for which the illustrations were created by great illustrators like Ram Waeerkar whom we cannot forget.

Actually I have read this story many times till now ,and recently when I was just thinking about the by gone days of my childhood I got this brainwave ,that the glass mountain is not only a fairy tale but it can be implied in all our lives .

If we take that glass mountain as the problems in our life, the princess as the goal that we want to achieve and the witch as the hurdles we face when we try to solve a problem, we can approach life with a new dimension and hope.

If we look at the beginning of the story where many doyens try to rescue the duchess, they were unsuccessful due to various reasons.

If we correlate this story to the problems we face in life, we can climb any glass mountain, we come across no matter how steep it is, if we have the correct tools and the patience to first understand the problem and works towards the solution. We will be the champions of life .

like the prince we must have the quality of bravery in us ,the power of analysing the problem and determination that is required and should not fluctuate until we reach our goal.

Let’s learn more from such beautiful stories and live life a combatant.

Thanks for your time, have a great weekend ahead.
